Two teams look to head into the coming European Championships on a high as Germany welcome the Netherlands to Frankfurt on Tuesday for the final match before the summer window.
Germany, hosts of the summer showcase, have had their struggles in recent years, leading to concerns about their viability as title contenders even on home soil. Yet a surprising 2-0 victory over France last time out built significant confidence of a resurgence.
The return of Toni Kroos needed just eight seconds to bear fruit, as the aged veteran came back into the national team fold after four years adrift and provided the assist to Florian Wirtz’s opener straight from the kickoff. Kai Havertz tacked on a second minutes into the second half, and the back line held Les Bleus to just two shots on target all match.
The Dutch, meanwhile, look a threat to any side in Europe, and while not one of the top favourites to win the Euros, they will certainly be considered a potential wrench in the works. The Netherlands topped Scotland 4-0 back on Saturday, and while they were narrowly beaten by Croatia and Italy in last year’s Nations League finals, the Oranje will come into this summer’s competition with high expectations.

Germany vs Netherlands prediction, odds
- Moneyline lean: Netherlands (+275)
- Score prediction: Germany 2-3 Netherlands
These two teams have provided some high-quality matchups in the past, and this should be no different. Both picked up big, confidence-boosting wins days ago, and will be up for this meeting in their final match before the summer window arrives.
While Germany will be flying high after toppling two-time defending World Cup finalists France, their overall form still remains pretty poor. They fell to Austria and Turkey in their pair of November friendlies, and have just four wins from 12 matches since their early exit in the 2022 World Cup group stage.
The Dutch, meanwhile, continue to play as a strong, cohesive unit under Ronald Koeman, and their recent blasting of Scotland is the latest example. Tijani Reijnders looked sensational, and Cody Gakpo has been a strong performer on the international level as well. They’ll be up for a result.

Germany vs Netherlands best bet
- Pick: Over 3.0 total goals
- Odds: -105 (DraftKings)
Both these sides achieved clean sheets in their last match, but their attacking talent has often won out in recent meetings over their defensive solidity. In their last five meetings, Germany and Netherlands scored at least three goals in four of them, only failing to reach the mark in the last matchup, a 1-1 friendly draw two years ago which featured 23 total shots, including eight on target, but an ultimate lack of end product.
Here, there will be no such issue. The Netherlands especially are clinical in front of goal in recent years, as USMNT fans know all too well from their defeat to the Dutch in the World Cup knockout stage where the Oranje bagged three counter-attack goals from just 11 shots and six on target.
Germany have in-form playmaker Florian Wirtz to lean on as well as young spark Jamal Musiala, and the return of Toni Kroos proved a boon against France. There’s entertaining football awaiting these 90 minutes.
- Pick: Netherlands double chance
- Odds: -115 (BetMGM)
The Dutch have seemed to get the best out of attackers like Cody Gakpo, Wout Weghorst, and Memphis Depay even as they struggle for minutes and production at the club level, and the emergence of Tijani Reijnders against Scotland adds yet another weapon to the arsenal.
Playing on the road doesn’t bother this side at all, having won recent road games in Greece and Gibraltar, while topping Die Mannschaft 4-2 in Hamburg last time they played on German soil, plus a 2-2 draw in 2018 Nations League play in Gelsenkirchen the time before that.
While France’s organised, structured style played right into Germany’s hands, the counter-attacking chaos presented by the Netherlands will trouble the hosts greatly and undo some of the good will built by the win over France.
Germany vs Netherlands prop bet
- Pick: Donyell Malen anytime goal scorer
- Odds: +320 (BetMGM)
If you’re looking for the perfect combination of club form, international form, and opponent history, Donyell Malen is the gold standard for this match. The Borussia Dortmund forward has had a topsy-turvy season at the club level, but has rediscovered his early-season streak by scoring six goals in his last seven Bundesliga matches while also chipping in with a Champions League goal in late February.
Meanwhile, Malen has logged some strong international performances of late, assisting one of the six Dutch goals against Gibraltar in November before scoring against Scotland last time out in a profitable substitute appearance.
Finally, he’s been in this situation before, having come off the bench to score in Germany to stamp his international debut back in 2019, and registering four shots in the 1-1 friendly draw between these nations in their last meeting. He’ll provide a big threat here should Ronald Koeman give him the start, which he could be inclined to do since the towering Wout Weghorst isn’t exactly suited for this match which should require more chaotic pace than aerial threat — which is exactly what Malen brings to the table.
