Sheffield United owners uncertainty could see Dirk Kuyt leave Beerschot despite promotion
Gazet van Antwerpen are reporting that Dirk Kuyt could leave Beerschot despite guiding them to promotion to the Belgian Pro League. The former Liverpool head coach has reportedly said that if technical director Gyorgy Csepregi leaves, he will also leave. The Hungarian Csepregi has already stated that he believes he can build a squad that will be able to avoid relegation for just €3m.
However, who will provide that money remains the biggest questions surrounding the club. Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah has been said, as part of his United World investement group, to be looking to sell the club. Yet there have apparently been bids turned down by the group from Chinese investors. This has already led to the departure of Chairman Francis Vrancken, and could well see the end of Kuyt and Csepregi. The latter has been able to build a championship winning side despite all the limitations financially this season.
This is certainly a disappointing situation for the fans of the club, who are unable to fully celebrate promotion with all this uncertainty hanging over the club before the 2024/2025 top flight campaign.
