Unilever is shifting the headquarters of its ice cream unit from Rotterdam to the centre of Amsterdam, bringing 450 jobs to the Dutch capital, news agency Bloomberg has reported.

The move is part of the company’s plans to either sell or list its ice cream arm, which includes brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Hertog, Magnum and Cornetto.

The new offices on the Reguliersdwarsstraat will open in the first quarter of next year.

Unilever said in March that the ice cream arm no longer fits in with company strategy to focus on “unmissably superior brands with strong positions in highly attractive categories”.

The ice cream unit has five of the world’s top 10 brands and booked sales of €7.9 billion in 2023.

Chief executive Hein Schumacher said at the presentation of the company’s Q3 results on Thursday that the separation of the ice cream unit was “progressing as planned” and is on track to complete by the end of 2025.
