Union St Gilloise respond after Wolves loanee inspires quick Eintracht Frankfurt start
Union St Gilloise staged a comeback to keep themselves in the Europa Conference League Round of 32 tie. On loan Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic inspired Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt into a quickfire 2-0 head start. He provided the assist for the opening goal for Fares Chaibi, before finishing off a fine counter-attack to make it 2-0.
Yet Union didn’t give up and mounted a comeback. Mohamed Amoura pounced on a defensive error from the Bundesliga side to square for Mathias Rasmussen to make it 2-1. In the second half, Gustaf Nilsson was found by Rasmussen to make it 2-2. Any chance of turning the tie completely around disappeared when Charles Vanhoutte got a second yellow card with just over 10 minutes to go to leave Union facing the rest of the game a man down.
Union will now travel to Germany next week with every chance of making the next round.
